- Firnwald - Blue Arcana - https://firnwald.bandcamp.com/album/blue-arcana: ambient, post-industrial downbeat/DnB-ish techno from Bavaria. An enveloping production with a big soundstage and interesting voice samples. My touchstone is late 90s Cabaret Voltaire again, which probably means I should listen to more from the 2000s.
- Mogwai - The Bad Fire - https://mogwai.bandcamp.com/: To quote John Peel on The Fall, always different, always the same, but as always, it's a great same, like turning a piece of cut glass around in your hand to catch the light. Intense, pensive, LOUDquietLOUD as always. Does this one have a theme? Not sure yet. A new producer, John Congleton, who seems to know his post-rock, has brought a transparency to the sound that isn't always there. It's not as electronic as 'As The Love Continues', nor does it have the same intensity, which might have been due to being their Covid LP. It's Mogwai being Mogwai, 30 years in this year, making a Mogwai record, which is always a good thing.
- PERY - Your Kingdom is Doomed - https://pery.bandcamp.com/album/your-kingdom-is-doomed: A set of DAW-less acidy booms, beeps and squiggles and samples. Dramatic, possibly SF themed, and showing what can be done with a minimal amount of kit.
